LAND: The week in review Nov.21-27
Source: Liberty Action News Digest

The 'is America a police state yet' story of the week: Meet Deborah Davis, who was asked for her 'papers please' on a public BUS in Denver ... and refused. Her arraignment in Federal Court is scheduled December 9. Spread the word. In other news, Rhode Island schools are 'reminded' by the ACLU of their responsibility to give parents the right to 'opt out' of the military having information on their children; a brave Tokoyo teacher defies her gov't and teaches the truth; Protestors in Germany halt nuclear convoy; and protestors in Georgia are arrested ptotesting the School of the Americas. In commentary, if you're feeling hopeless don't miss 'The power of one' [Jim Davies] and Claire Wolfe's Thanksgiving message ... and, start preparing to celebrate Bill of Rights Day December 15!

LAND: The week in review Nov.14-20

The best news this week ... despite the machinations of the Bushies and their buddies, the Patriot Act reauthorization was ' blocked Friday by an odd-bedfellows coalition of liberals and conservatives who protested that it did too little to protect Americans' civil liberties'. ... for the moment, at least, giving us one last chance to tell our senators and reps exactly what we think about this latest bid to destroy the few constitutional protections we have left. In anti-war news, Cindy Sheehan's 'Day in Court' results in a misdemeanor conviction for 'protesting without a permit' ... sadly, her defense was 'this wasn't a protest, we were just delivering petitions' not 'permits? we don't need no steenkin' permits'; a soldier seeks conscientious objector status (and is ordered for weapons training). In the battle for control of the Net, a slight reprieve, as the current battle ends in a stalemate.

Commentaries this week include a perspicacious analysis of the 'fractured anti-war movement' from the left (some of whom are at last realizing how much in comon they have with libertarians!), a message for all of us who hope to 'change the world' ['Saving the world through saving yourself '], Claire Wolfe announces her Yule gift to herself ... a year of silence, several commentaries on the 'Patriots of Guantanamo' , and several chilling reports on privacy invasions ... 'Feds using ISPs to spy', 'Printers and privacy'
and 'Are you a public figure?

Also, a new action this week from EFF that we best support before it's too late: Support bloggers' rights!

LAND: The week in review Nov.7-12,2005
Source: Liberty Action News Digest

Abroad: Protests in the UK over a visit from the Chinese president, the riots in France begin to ebb as citizens take action to guard their own neighborhoods, activists in Singapore plead for the life of a man arrested for heroin, a parents' rights group in the UK is accused of a plot to blackout TV, and anti-US protests in the Phillipines over the rape of a Filipna maid ... here in the US, a judge 'tosses a blanket on a topless protest by 'Breasts not Bombs', voters in Washington approve a smoking ban, and a Colorado soldier founds an anti-war group.

Commentaries this week ... on 'the moral legacy of Rosa Parks' ( Anthony B. Bradley), warrantless searches (Fort Wayne Journal Gazette), Armistice Day (Almost like a day for peace) the fight for the worldwide 'control of the Net', and for the paranoid among us ... we were right! The White House not only has an 'enemies list' it has dossiers on over 10,000 Americans ... and, don't miss Per Bylund's 'An uncivilized argument for anarchy', Rep. Ron Paul's speech introducing the Health Freedom Protection Act and L.Neil Smith's 'There is no Joe Sixpack'.

Two actions of note: the Revolutionary War Veterans Association' Project Appleseed : Planting the Spirit of the American Rifleman and Downsize DC's call to 'end federal flood insurance'.
